What kind of vote is this?
Procedure INI
Own-initiative report
The Parliament sets out its own view on a subject. It is not binding: nobody is legally required to act on it.
What happens next
The report is sent to the Commission and the national governments. It can influence future proposals, but it does not change the law by itself.
Follow the file on the Parliament's Legislative Observatory ↗How a vote passes
Most votes pass with a simple majority: more votes for than against. Abstentions don't count either way. Some decisions, for example certain budget votes, need a larger majority.
